DailyTech - Nanotech Produces Bizarre "Flat" Atom, Hailed as Quantum Computing Breakthrough

DailyTech - Nanotech Produces Bizarre "Flat" Atom, Hailed as Quantum Computing Breakthrough: "Imagine a tiny arsenic atom embedded in a tiny strip of silicon atoms. An electric current is applied. Something strange arises on the surface -- an exotic molecule. On one end is the spherical submerged arsenic atom; on the other end is an 'artificial' flat atom, seemingly 2D, created as an artifact. The pair form an exotic molecule, which has a shared electron, which can be manipulated to be at either end, or in an intermediate quantum state."

‘Ghost’ Photos through Quantum Physics | Blog | Futurismic: "These are exciting times on the frontiers of physics. Researchers in Copenhagen took a step towards producing a quantum bit. And scientists at Arizona State are trying to figure out how electrons interact. Both are necessary steps towards building superfast quantum computers."

Cancer Cured? Granulocytes Treatment Worked 100 Percent In Mice Work But Will It Work In Humans? | Scientific Blogging: "The treatment will involve transfusing specific white blood cells, called granulocytes, from select donors, into patients with advanced forms of cancer. A similar treatment using white blood cells from cancer-resistant mice has previously been highly successful, curing 100 percent of lab mice afflicted with advanced malignancies."

Science Journal - WSJ.com

Science Journal - WSJ.com: "Fishing in the stream of consciousness, researchers now can detect our intentions and predict our choices before we are aware of them ourselves. The brain, they have found, appears to make up its mind 10 seconds before we become conscious of a decision -- an eternity at the speed of thought."
